Uganda's Basic Requirements and Minimum Standards for ECD centres list first-aid kits, trained staff and evacuation plans under emergency preparedness, and opening a daycare requires first-aid certification before local authorities issue a licence following inspection. No national renewal cycle is spelled out, but the certification itself is a condition of starting and running a centre. In practice, the licence assumes caregivers who are genuinely ready for an emergency.
Anaphylaxie et administration de médicaments
Epinephrine auto-injectors are not readily available across the country and can only be obtained through importation, and no rule obliges a childcare facility to keep them. For that reason, the best protection is a caregiver who can recognise the signs of a severe allergic reaction quickly, call for emergency help at once, and give any doctor-prescribed medication — with the parents' written consent — stored safely away from the children.
In an emergency such as a child choking or drowning, the first minutes matter more than any others, and the caregiver present is the child's first hope before professional help arrives. Earning first-aid and CPR training turns worry into skilled action and assures parents their children are in safe hands. A recognised, standards-based certification fulfils the licence's first-aid requirement and, above all, ensures someone is ready to act at every moment.
